APPEC 2026: Maritime Decarbonisation and Alternative Fuel Strategies Panel

Industry leaders from Singapore MPA, legal and trading firms, and IBIA convened to discuss maritime decarbonisation challenges. Panellists identified biofuels as immediately scalable, methanol and ammonia as longer-term solutions, and stressed that IMO regulatory clarity is the critical enabler for large-scale investment, while regional fragmentation and crew competency gaps remain near-term barriers.
