A busy week for ISMDN in Türkiye: COP31 in Antalya and an experts' workshop in Istanbul

ISMDN presents its work at COP31 on 10 November and meets with Turkish experts at Istanbul Technical University two days later.
Next week, ISMDN holds two important events in Türkiye, both run jointly by the University of Strathclyde and Istanbul Technical University (ITU).
Shipping is moving to low- and zero-carbon fuels faster than safety knowledge, regulation and training can keep up. ISMDN brings together partners from around the world to identify those gaps and agree how research can close them.
COP31, Antalya, Tuesday 10 November
Assoc. Prof. Dr Elif Bal Beşikçi (ITU) and Professor Osman Turan (University of Strathclyde) will present the network's work in the Green Zone of the Council of Higher Education of Türkiye (YÖK), sharing what ISMDN has learned in its first year and where its research is heading.
Experts' workshop, Istanbul, Thursday 12 November
Two days later, ITU hosts the network's Türkiye experts' workshop, with specialists from shipping, shipbuilding, ports, classification societies, the maritime administration and academia. The discussion covers bunkering infrastructure, ship design, leakage and fire safety, and the pilot research project that could run in Türkiye. Experts' input will be collected and shared with the wider maritime community.
To take part, contact Assoc. Prof. Dr Elif Bal Beşikçi at bale@itu.edu.tr.
ISMDN is funded by Lloyd's Register Foundation.
