ICS webinar: Maritime Applications for Batteries

The International Chamber of Shipping hosted a webinar on battery applications in shipping, covering battery-electric propulsion, emissions reduction and energy efficiency, with a focus on short sea routes.
On 5 June 2026 the International Chamber of Shipping (ICS) hosted a one-hour webinar, 'Maritime Applications for Batteries', on the growing role of low-carbon energy technologies in shipping.
The session reviewed the current state of battery-electric propulsion, where batteries can cut emissions, improve energy efficiency and enhance performance, particularly on short sea routes.
It was moderated by Namrata Nadkarni (Intent Communications), with panellists from the International Chamber of Shipping, Rauma Marine Constructions, The Faraday Institution and Wightlink.
