ISMDN at the International Maritime Human Factors Conference 2026
IMHFC 2026 opened in Istanbul on 3 September, with three ISMDN partner institutions among its organisers. ISMDN convenes Session A-5, on decarbonisation, alternative fuels and the energy transition, on Friday 4 September.
Several ISMDN partner institutions are among the organisers, including the University of Strathclyde, Istanbul Technical University and the National Technical University of Athens.
ISMDN is also convening a dedicated session on decarbonisation, alternative fuels and the safe energy transition. Session A-5 runs on Friday 4 September from 13:00 to 14:25, chaired by Assoc. Prof. Dr Burak Zincir, and features five papers: risk analysis of battery thermal runaway in electric ships, retrofit readiness for ammonia-fuelled ships and smart ports, decarbonisation trajectories across ten international carriers, the social dimensions of maritime decarbonisation, and resistance to alternative fuel adoption.
